Vaccination Update - 23 May

Spring booster campaign

We have now offered a spring booster vaccination to more than 90 per cent of those eligible and so far we have seen a positive uptake of invitations.

The remaining invitations will be issued within the next couple of weeks through the post, so there is no need for anyone to contact the Health Board or their GP.

The latest phase of our COVID-19 vaccination campaign is aimed at the most vulnerable in our communities, including residents in care homes for older adults, people aged 75 and over and those aged five years and over who are immunosuppressed.

While we are now moving away from an emergency response to the pandemic, it still important for those people at greater risk of becoming ill to get their vaccine. This is particularly important as there is still uncertainty about how the virus will change in future.

To make it as easy as possible to attend an appointment our teams have been running clinics in a number of community locations. For example, the Central Area team will be running clinics this week at Ruthin Castle and the Memorial Hall in Betws Y Coed. Sessions have also been held at Canolfan Addysg Uwchaled in Cerrigydrudion, the Town Hall in Abergele, The Community Centre at Bodelwyddan, the Jubilee Centre in Prestatyn, The Glasdir Centre in Llanrwst, Hwb Denbigh, Penmaenmawr Community Library and West End Clinic in Colwyn Bay.

Vaccines and immunisation are a global health and development success story, saving millions of lives every year providing services locally increases vaccination rates and helps to protect our communities.

Please attend the arranged appointment offered if possible, but if you need to cancel or rearrange then please let us know via the COVID-19 Vaccination Contact Centre as missed appointments have an impact on our resources.

The COVID-19 Vaccination Contact Centre can be contacted on 03000 840004, which is open 8am to 7pm from Monday to Friday and 9am to 2pm at the weekend.

Vaccinations for children aged 6 months to 4 years

Children aged 6 months to 4 are eligible for a two-dose primary course of COVID-19 vaccination if they are considered to be in the “at risk” category.

The Health Board will start contacting the parents or guardians directly of the children who qualify for this offer within the next two weeks to start booking in to clinics that will run from the end of May.
