Vaccination Update – 20 July 2023

End of the spring booster campaign

Our COVID-19 spring booster programme has now finished with more than 85 per cent of those eligible people living and working in North Wales having been vaccinated.

The latest phase of our campaign has been a huge success surpassing the national target of 75 per cent with more than 73,000 vaccinations being delivered (the national total was 81.7 per cent), and more than two million in total since the programme started in December 2020.

We would like to thank those people who have attended their appointments, the care homes across North Wales who have worked with us to protect residents and our staff and volunteers for all of their hard work.

This time, the aim was to protect most vulnerable in our communities, including residents in care homes for older adults, people aged 75 and over and those aged five years and over who are immunosuppressed. While we have moved away from an emergency response to the pandemic, it still important for those people at greater risk of becoming ill to get their vaccine. This is particularly important as there is still uncertainty about how the virus will change in future.

We are now planning to deliver the next phase of the campaign, which we expect to start during the autumn and will share more details in due course.
