Recruitment

Recruiting and retaining staff is challenge for the NHS as a whole and not just in North Wales and it is important that we have a skilled and sustainable workforce to help us deliver our services.

We have had success in reducing the number of agency, locum and interim staff employed by the Health Board. We have converted a number of locum posts to substantive posts in the hope we can attract staff to stay with us. Interim appointments have been cut significantly, with preference to advertising for substantive postholders. In December 2022, there were 41 senior interims in post, in December 2023 this had reduced to two.

To help us with our recruitment drive we have used a range of different advertising, as well as attending and open days.

The Health Board provides excellent employment opportunities for and we have an ambition to support growing our own workforce, and supporting career development
