You might be seen in a number of different places depending on where you live, who you are seeing and how you are referred to us, options include;
We have staff who can see you at different times;
Your school or GP can refer you to us if they think we can help, if your parent or carer phone the CAMHS number they can speak with SPOA (Single Point of Access) Practitioner but it is recommended you are referred by your GP or School.
We will spend some time getting to know you and what you might need help with, we’ll talk to you about food, sleep, what risks there are, your family and your friendships. After we have spoken to you we will talk to your parent, carer or trusted adult you have brought with you about the same things.
After we have spoken to both of you we will all come together to create a safety plan with you. A safety plan is a document we can all use to support you and keep you safe. After this initial appointment you will be offered a follow up appointment in 7 days.
While you don’t need to bring anything with you, we’d like you to feel comfortable. Please come with a parent, carer or another trust adult with you, especially if you are attending the emergency department. You can also bring with you something which may help you feel more comfortable or distract you like headphones, clothing or books.
