Through helping your child to understand what bullying is and how to respond appropriately to it

  • We support our child in understanding that everyone has rights and responsibilities and that actions have consequences.
  • We ensure safe and appropriate boundaries are in place for our child and encourage them to start to explore boundaries in a safe and supported environment.
  • We support our child in developing healthy, positive relationships.
  • We encourage our child to show respect to themselves and others.
  • We encourage our child to show empathy and respect to others, valuing diversity and we model the same ourselves.
  • We model ways to behave appropriately to our child.
  • We provide space and the tools for our child to talk about their feelings and needs.
  • We support our child in recognising different relationships and developing positive and safe relationships with others, including online.
  • We support our child in understanding where they can access support and how to do this and actively encourage them to build and maintain a support network within and outside the family. We continue to model to our children that we have people we can turn to when we need help and that we seek out help when we need it.
  • We help our child to continue to develop and to maintain a close supportive network and encourage them to include people in their network whose values fit with theirs.
