Volunteers Week 2024 celebrations

Volunteers' Week, takes place during the first week of June every year, and is a chance for organisations to recognise the fantastic contribution that volunteers make in their communities.

Last week, as a big THANK YOU to all our volunteers for their commitment and dedication to volunteering with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, we held four regional celebration events to mark the 40th Anniversary of Volunteers Week. We are privileged to have so many incredible volunteers who give up their time to support others and put our patients at the heart of everything they do. Our volunteers really do make such a difference to the lives of so many.

Tuesday, 4th June - Central BCU celebrates Volunteers Week at Glan Clwyd Hospital

Volunteers, new and old, from across Conwy and Denbighshire came together to celebrate Volunteers Week. It was a wonderful informal celebration of the time and dedication that the Robin Volunteers bring to the wards and departments that they support. Volunteers are an important part of the BCUHB team, and it was wonderful opportunity to say a massive thank you for all the work that they do and for brightening a patient's days.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for Tuesday and letting me meet both the team co-ordinator's and some of the other volunteers from other places. It was a lovely idea and it was nice to hear about everyone’s experiences and the same amount of pleasure that I get from it. I know I’m only a couple of months in, but I absolutely look forward to every shift I do. - Paul M

Wednesday, 5th June - West BCU celebrates Volunteers Week at Menai Bridge

Well, what a wonderful volunteer celebration we had during volunteers’ week this week. Twenty-two Robins and Public volunteers came together to celebrate volunteering for the health board. Volunteers were presented with thank you certificates and awards for all the hard work they put into supporting staff and patients on our wards in hospitals across Gwynedd and Anglesey and volunteers who continue to support the COVID vaccination centres. We all enjoyed a delicious buffet of sandwiches and cakes and lots of cups of tea! Volunteers are a vital and important part of BCUHB and it was wonderful to bring them together to say a massive THANK YOU to them for all they do! [Hannah Coles, Volunteers Coordinator, West]
