Movement ABC Assessment
The Movement ABC (its full name is the Movement Assessment Battery for Children – Second Edition) is an individually administered test designed to assist professionals responsible for helping children with movement difficulties, this includes both fine and gross motor control skills.
The Movement ABC-2 Test focuses on the identification and description of impairments of motor function in children, involving the child directly,
This standardised assessment requires a child to perform a series of motor tasks in a strictly specified way. In addition, it provides qualitative information on how the child approaches and performs the task.
The test is divided into three age bands; 3-6 years, 7-10 years and 11-16 years. Within each age band, eight tasks are grouped under three headings:
At the end of the entire session, the tester is invited to consider a series of non-motor factors that might have globally affected the child’s performance. Examples of these factors include nervousness, lack of concentration, learning difficulties, behaviour issues, appearing unmotivated and being fearful of challenging tasks.
Results
For the three components of the test and for the total score, age adjusted standard scores and percentiles are provided.
