Adults with hip and/or knee joint pain (related to osteoarthritis), with a Body Mass Index over 35kg/m2, who would benefit from information, exercise and weight loss to reduce pain and increase mobility.
An information, exercise and weight management programme run by Physiotherapists and Dietitians from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, at Leisure Centres across North Wales in conjunction with the National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS).
The programme is designed to improve your health and mobility, facilitate weight loss, decrease pain and avoid the need for surgery where possible. Successful completion of the programme will also ensure that you are at your optimum fitness prior to surgery if required, aiming to improve recovery times and outcomes.
Following assessment by a Physiotherapist, you will attend a, 12-week exercise programme tailored to your needs, including 2 sessions per week, supervised by an exercise professional at your local Leisure Centre.
To provide you with all the tools and support you need to lose weight and keep it off, you will also attend a 12-week KindEating weight management group programme, run by Dietitians.
There is no charge to patients for the programme.
