Anglesey & Gwynedd

We are a public health nursing team offering support and advice to you and your family/carers to help you to reach your full potential in your school years and beyond and you may also have heard of us to be the school nursing team. We understand that not all children and young people access school for many reasons. Some children and young people are educated at home, elsewhere and others really struggle to attend school because of their emotional health. While we as a public health team do many things, your emotional health is important to us.

How do we access you?

If you are aged between 4 and 11 years and in primary school or home educated, your parents can contact us directly to have a chat with us on your behalf about your physical and emotional health and we can arrange to visit you in your school or at home. You may also see us in your local school offering the flu sprays (influenza tetra nasal spray) as we try and help you and your family/carers to stay healthy and protected.

If you are aged 11 and 18 years, we are based in your secondary school every week where you can drop in and see us if you are worried about any physical, emotional and sexual health matters. This is usually available at lunch times and you don’t need an appointment to see us. You may also see us when we are offering the HPV vaccine in Year 8 and the dT/IPV vaccine  in Year 9 as we try and help you to stay healthy and protected.

If you are educated at home or elsewhere, you can phone our hubs to access our help and support.

We understand it can be difficult to talk to someone you don’t know and so you can bring a friend, teacher or someone you trust with you to support you. You can also bring an object that helps you to feel more comfortable.

All of our services are confidential so you can feel safe when you talk to us. The only time we would need to share information is if we were worried about your safety the safety of others.

We have a text message service called Chat Health 07312263119 that you can access anytime about any health related questions. This service is available for teens and young people. This isn’t for emergencies as it can take around 48 hours for us to answer your questions. For example, you can message us to find out when we are next in your school, ask us questions about your health or chat to us if you have worries about anything.
