People at highest risk of serious illness from COVID-19 will be offered a booster vaccine from October 2024
COVID-19 continues to circulate in Wales, and is more likely to cause serious illness for older people and people with underlying health conditions.
If you or your loved ones are eligible for a booster vaccination, please make sure you have topped-up your protection. COVID-19 vaccines are quick and very safe, and reduce your risk of serious illness and hospital admission.
Following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) and the Welsh Government, the following groups are eligible for a COVID-19 booster vaccine this winter. Click on the heading to learn more about how members of each group can receive their vaccine here in North Wales.
All staff working in care homes, other health and social care workers, unpaid carers aged 16 or over and people experiencing homelessness will also be eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster vaccine from October onwards.
This year, people in these groups will not be sent an invitation to a vaccination appointment by letter or text message. People in these groups who wish to receive a COVID-19 booster vaccine can arrange an appointment by calling our COVID-19 Vaccination Contact Centre on 03000 840004.
We are offering all people in these groups an NHS flu vaccine from October, and encourage everyone eligible to take up this offer to reduce the risk of serious illness caused by flu this winter.
More information about eligibility for the COVID-19 booster vaccine is available from the Welsh Government.
