People at highest risk of serious illness from COVID-19 can now walk in for a booster vaccine without an appointment
COVID-19 continues to circulate in Wales, and is more likely to cause serious illness for older people and people with underlying health conditions.
If you or your loved ones are eligible for a booster vaccination, please make sure you have topped-up your protection. COVID-19 vaccines are quick and very safe, and reduce your risk of serious illness and hospital admission.
Following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) and the Welsh Government, the following groups are eligible for a COVID-19 booster vaccine this winter.
All staff working in care homes, other health and social care workers, unpaid carers aged 16 or over and people experiencing homelessness will also be eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster vaccine. This year, people in these groups will not be sent an invitation to a vaccination appointment by letter or text message.
People in these groups who wish to have a COVID-19 booster may walk in at one of our vaccination centres without an appointment. People in these groups who wish to book an appointment can contact the Vaccination Contact Centre on 03000 840004 or email BCU.SROCovid19VaccinationProgramme@wales.nhs.uk.
We are offering all people in these groups an NHS flu vaccine, and encourage everyone eligible to take up this offer to reduce the risk of serious illness caused by flu this winter. How to get your NHS flu vaccine.
More information about eligibility for the COVID-19 booster vaccine is available from the Welsh Government.
