Oral health during pregnancy

Choose healthy snacks and try to keep all sugary food and drinks to mealtimes.

If your oral hygiene is not good, hormonal changes during pregnancy may cause your gums to become swollen and bleed when brushed. Make sure to brush your teeth twice a day with a toothpaste that contains 1350-1500ppm fluoride. After brushing your teeth, make sure you spit, don’t rinse.

If you’re suffering from morning sickness and have episodes of vomiting, rinse your mouth out with water, but do not brush your teeth straight away.
