A learning, self-improving organisation

We are determined to learn from our experiences as a Health Board. We are developing better ways to use all feedback, information (data) and learning available to continually improve - both now and in the future.

Progress Made

  • We are developing a robust Quality Management System. Discussions are already underway with our clinical executives and a number of sessions have taken place with Improvement Cymru and our own Board and executive team to focus on the development of a Quality Management System, with a first version expected in May 2024. We’re also actively seeking learning from colleagues across England and Wales where they have robust Quality Management Systems in place.

Future Plans

  • Learning from inquests: consistent themes can be found in HM Coroner Reports from 2016 to 2023 and we are developing a thorough plan to address the concerns and make the changes needed. We will evidence them as we do so.

  • Become an intelligence led organisation. We are looking at developing better ways of gathering, sharing and using information (data) to inform our planning and performance.
