Infected Blood Inquiry

The final Infected Blood Inquiry report was published on Monday, 20 May 2024 following an independent public statutory inquiry into the use of infected blood.

The inquiry was established in 2017 to investigate how thousands of people across the United Kingdom came to be infected with HIV and/or Hepatitis C through contaminated blood products between 1970 and 1991. This included patients who received blood products whilst receiving care from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s legacy organisations.

We are sorry for the hurt, pain and suffering caused to patients and their loved ones.

We have fully supported the Infected Blood Inquiry and will continue to support those with bleeding disorders and anyone infected through transfusion.

More information about the inquiry is available on infectedbloodinquiry.org.uk.

If you are worried that you or a loved one may be affected by contaminated blood products you can contact our Infected Blood Inquiry Helpline on 03000 840088 . The Helpline is open from Monday to Friday between 8am – 6pm and Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 2pm. The Helpline will open on Monday, 20 May.
