IVT Suite
We have a bespoke unit which provides those patients with Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) a clinical assessment and treatment area within the IVT suite.  Also located here is the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) services which assist patients with vision difficulties to source support services within the Primary care (community) setting.

Primary Care Services
Daily booked Primary Care sessions are managed by an identified medical officer who will see patients referred as urgent to the Unit.  Referrals from other Hospitals are always relayed to the Primary Care / On- call doctor (doctor- to -doctor referrals).  Some GP’s or Optometrists may also request to speak to a doctor.

The department has the support of a team of Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioners who provide unscheduled care and support.  Practitioners can assess, diagnose, treat and prescribe medication for a variety of anterior segment conditions using patient group directives.

For conditions effecting the posterior segment practitioners’ record patient history & carry out ocular examination prior to referral to medical staff.  Practitioners currently see approximately 60% of unscheduled care eye attendees.
