Everyone aged between six months and 64 years with a health condition which puts them at higher risk of serious illness caused by flu will be offered an NHS flu vaccine
Higher risk health conditions include:
Adults eligible for the NHS flu vaccine will be invited to an appointment at their GP surgery by letter during the autumn, or may attend a clinic advertised by their surgery. A small number of patients may be invited to have a flu vaccine at a vaccination centre or other venue.
Alternatively, the adult vaccine is available at many community pharmacies across North Wales. Please contact your local pharmacy in advance because you may need to make an appointment.
Drop-in NHS flu vaccines are also now available from our community vaccination clinics without an appointment.
To support their needs, people with a mental illness or learning disability should visit their GP surgery to receive their NHS flu vaccine.
Children aged between six months and two years with one of these conditions will be offered a flu vaccine at their GP surgery. Your GP surgery will be in touch to offer an appointment, or you may be invited to contact your surgery to arrange a suitable date and time.
All children aged two or three on 31 August 2025 will be offered an NHS flu vaccine at their GP surgery from September. All school age children (Reception to Year 11) will be offered a flu vaccine by our school vaccination teams during special clinics held at school.
To help protect against serious illness caused by COVID-19, people at higher risk of serious illness will usually be offered an Autumn COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as their annual NHS flu vaccine.
Patients registered at the small number of GP practices which are unable to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine may be offered an appointment at one of the health board’s vaccination centres or a local community pharmacy. More information about eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine this Autumn.
