Messages to decision makers

We asked children and young people ‘What messages would you give to decision makers’?

They told us:

  • Listen- opinions are important/ influence decisions
  • Comforts, supports, believes in them and has time
  • Treats as equals, works together and respects
  • Talks to young people and includes them
  • Motivates and provides opportunity
  • Fairness, patience
  • Makes good choices
  • Models good behaviour/ inspires young people

With a promise of:

  • Commitment
  • Effort and Enthusiasm

Things that made us think: So many children and young people just want to be listened to and be heard. It made us think how do we as organisation work together to share what children and young people are telling us. Particularly for those children who are seldom heard from. It made us think we can’t do this alone, we have to work together and share these messages so that we can build a system that listens.
