Please note that due to the popularity of the programme, and to give as many students as possible a chance to attend, we will only accept one placement per Health Board.  If you have applied to all hospitals listed below and are successful for more than one placement, please only accept your preferred hospital.

For students wishing to study medicine, applications should be made as follows:

 

Ysbyty Gwynedd

For medical placements at Ysbyty Gwynedd, please send a covering letter and CV (detailing individual GCSE grades) to: Mrs Kim Thomas, Undergraduate Manager, North Wales Clinical School, Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, Gwynedd. LL57  2PW.  These placements are open to students in year 12 only, with a closing date of 31 October each year.  Applications with appropriate grades at GCSE will be invited for interview prior to allocation of places.

 

Ysbyty Glan Clwyd

State Schools:  There is no need to apply directly to the hospital for a placement as applicants fulfil the eligibility criteria below should already be registered with the local Seren Network.  If an application is received and the student is not a part of the Seren Network, applicants will be redirected to the Seren Administrators.

Independent Schools:  Independent Schools who wish to present a year 12 student (or students) for the programme must inform the hospital clinical school manager in Glan Clwyd hospital, no later than 30th September in the academic year that the programme will take place.  Pupils will then be invited to join the Integrated Work Experience Programme - Widening Access to Medicine. 

Please send your CV, photocopy of GCSE results and a covering letter to Mrs Jayne McCall, Undergraduate Manager, North Wales Clinical School, Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan as soon as you receive your GSCE results.  Places will be allocated as detailed in the above hyperlink.
