Family Wellbeing Services

This page is under development

We are an early intervention and prevention service offering mental health and wellbeing support to children and young people. We see children and young people with mild mental health struggles such as issues with anxiety, low mood and stress.

How to access our services?

If you are struggling with your mental health and wellbeing, making an appointment with your GP can be a great first step in accessing support.

Depending on your needs, your GP may refer you to see us at your surgery.

What do we offer?

Professional Consultation

Sometimes it can be difficult to get the right help at the right time from the right people and you don’t want to have to wait or speak to someone new about your struggles. To help you with this, we can advise your GP, school, social worker, family worker or school nurse to help you access the support you need without another appointment. This is what we call professional consultation. Sometimes now may not be the right time for you to see us and so we offer help to other professionals around you.

Parental and carer consultation and support

Sometimes now may not be the right time for you to see us and so we offer help your parents and carers to help you access the support you need without you needing to attend an appointment. This is what we call parental and carer consultation.

Brief Intervention

If you do need to come and see us, we offer sessions for up to an hour every few weeks up to four times. These sessions may cover coping strategies such as managing anxiety, sleep hygiene, challenging negative thoughts, 5 ways to wellbeing strategies, relaxation, mindfulness and/or guided meditation. We use different resources including self-help guides, videos, iPads, art and crafts and things you can take away to do in-between sessions.

How do I find you?

Our team is based in Llandudno Hospital. We try and see you face to face but we do offer online sessions as well depending on your needs or circumstances.

Parking can be difficult, there is a big car park available around the back of the building which can be accessed by driving past the main entrance and taking the next right by the 10mph sign.

If you park at the front of the hospital… Come into the main entrance, you can ask at the main reception and follow the overhead signs to CAMHS.

If you park at the back of the hospital… come into the red door (x-ray entrance) and follow the signs to main reception and then onto CAMHS.

CAMHS is located on the first floor (upstairs) and there is a lift available to use if you need it.

How do I tell you I have arrived?

When you get to the front door of CAMHS there is a buzzer/intercom to use for you to say your name and someone will buzz you in. This will let reception know you have arrived and they will let your clinician know you are waiting.

The waiting area is located on the left hand side when you arrive. If you have been waiting for longer than 10 minutes for your appointment, please let someone in reception know and they will chase this for you.

Do I have to come on my own?

We understand if can be difficult to talk to people you don’t know about your thoughts and feelings and you are welcome to bring any distraction objects with you that you may feel help to make you more comfortable and we would encourage you to bring your family and carers to support you during the sessions.
