Heart medications

This page is being developed.

If you have been referred to our cardiac rehabilitation service, you will receive information sessions to help you understand your heart medications.

You may have been given medicines that:

  • Reduce the chance of blood clots developing.
  • Reduce the work that your heart has to do.
  • Control your blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels.
  • Increase the blood supply to your heart.

It is important that you continue to take these medications unless directed by your health professional. If you experience any side effects of the medications please speak to your medical professional for further advice.

Information about the types of medications for heart conditions can be found on the British Heart Foundation website.
