Glan Clwyd Park and Ride service extended until October 31

***Please note - this article was first published in August 2019.
The Executive Team has since reviewed the case for the further extension of the Park and Ride service at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. The service was established on a temporary basis to offset the loss of parking spaces while the hospital redevelopment took place.

We recognise that it has been well used and valued by staff and patients. The service will be extended until 31st March 2020 while we strengthen our work to evidence the consequences of its closure. This includes improving car parking on the Ysbyty Glan Clwyd site.***

We are extending our contract to provide the park and ride service at Glan Clwyd Hospital for a further four months. Having reached an agreement with Arriva on Friday, the park and ride will now run until October 31, 2019.

By extending the service for a further four months, we will have additional time to look at ways to ease parking on site at Glan Clwyd Hospital. It will also give visitors to the site and our staff time to look at alternative ways of travelling to the hospital once the park and ride closes.

It remains our intention to stop operating the park and ride after October 31.

Over the coming months, we continue to ask visitors to the site to help us to reduce the impact of traffic on site.

Visitors are urged to consider using public transport where possible, and to take into account time needed to find a parking space when planning a visit to the site.

We ask staff to consider looking into car-sharing arrangements to help free up parking spaces on site. Staff can also access the cycle to work scheme for use at any Health Board site.

In line with Welsh Government policy, car parking at Glan Clwyd Hospital remains free of charge.
