Kath Kynaston only joined the Health Board a year ago, as a medical secretary at Ysbyty Gwynedd. Originally from Oswestry, Shropshire, she brought with her a love of swimming and a good dose of community spirit.
She receives her British Empire Medal for services to swimming and to the community in Shropshire. Kath began helping out at Shrewsbury Amateur Swimming Club when her youngest son started competitive swimming in 2008.
She took on a number of roles before being elected Chair of the club in 2015 and was ultimately elected President of the Shropshire Amateur Swimming Association.
Kath was a Brown Owl for a local brownie pack, ran a local youth group in Shropshire and even edited her local village newsletter.
Since moving to Holyhead to retire, Kath felt the need to do something useful so she volunteers at the local RNLI shop and became a medical secretary at Ysbyty Gwynedd.
She said: “I want to thank everyone who took the time to nominate me. I’m extremely proud to be receiving it.”
