Our Values

Our staff, our patients, our partners

Introduction

Our values and behaviours shape the way we work, how we interact with each other, our patients/ service users and our partners. Values are beliefs or principles that are important and meaningful to us - they are what drives us. Behaviours are what we observe, our actions that bring these values to life. Our behaviours demonstrate our values through what we say and how we say it, how we do things and how we treat others and expect to be treated ourselves.

Our work matters because it is our job to care for our patients, enable, and empower our population to stay well.  Our values and behaviours define how we approach this and how we treat each other. This framework applies to all staff within BCUHB, our patients, service users, visitors and partners. Through demonstrating these behaviours, we can shape our culture to positively impact our patient, service user and partner experience and outcomes, staff wellbeing and continuous improvement.

The Values & Behaviour Framework which was developed with staff and stakeholders are more than word and are fundamental to the way we show up for those we care for and each other from a place of integrity, purpose and respect. They will be embedded in all our systems, processes and ways of working from recruitment and attracting new talent and staff development.
