Minor Injury Units (MIUs)

Cuts - Bites - Sprains - Something in your eye - Insect bites - Minor head injuries - Minor burns and scalds - minor illness

Minor Injury Units (MIUs) are for less serious injuries. They usually offer much shorter waiting times than our main emergency departments that have to prioritise the most seriously injured patients. Examples of minor injuiries are: cuts, bites, sprains, something in your eye, insect bites and minor head injuries.

Despite the challenges of the current pandemic, the majority of our Minor Injury Units (MIUs) have remained open across North Wales.

The Minor Injury Units in Llandudno, Denbigh and Holywell are offering services by appointment-only until further notice, to book an appointment please call them before you visit. The Minor Injury Units at Ysbyty Bryn Beryl, Dolgellau and Tywyn are temporarily closed. These arrangements are in place to keep our staff and the public safe as part of our plans to manage Covid-19 in our communities.
