If you forget or run out of your prescription medicines

The quickest and best way to get a repeat prescription for medicine you take regularly could be to speak to your usual GP, or the healthcare professional who prescribed the medication for you, over the phone. They know most about your medical history and will be able give you the best advice for your circumstances.

But if you forget or run out of medicine you take regularly, most pharmacies in North Wales will be able to help you get a repeat prescription.

Usually, a pharmacist will need to see you in person and see evidence you have had a prescription for the medicine before – something like an empty medicine box or bottle, or a copy of an old prescription.

They will also need to agree that you need the prescription urgently, and make sure that the dose is right for you. You may be asked to pay for an emergency prescription.

Only appropriately qualified pharmacists can give out emergency prescriptions, so it is a good idea to call ahead to check when the service is available.
