If you are experiencing a crisis and having thoughts and urges about hurting yourself, someone else or ending your life then stop, take a deep breath and follow the steps below:

  • If you’ve injured yourself, taken an overdose or are worried about your immediate safety and are with somebody let them know how you are feeling and what you have done/have an urge to do.
  • If you are alone, go to a safe place and tell a trusted adult and/or seek immediate help
  • For immediate medical support or if your trusted adult is unable to keep you safe dial 999 or go to the nearest emergency department.
  • If you have urgent concerns about a mental health problem and immediate medical treatment is not required, call 111 and press option 2 or use the NHS 111 Wales online service

If you are currently receiving help from CAMHS and things have become very difficult for you, and you need some extra help, you can telephone the CAMHS duty worker during the day Mon-Fri (9am-5pm).

If you are not currently receiving help from CAMHS, you can ask an adult who you trust to support you in getting the right help. referrals are made by professionals such as GPs, schools nurses, teachers and social workers.
