Anglesey artist brightens up Emergency Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd

Vibrant images of familiar North Wales landscapes have now brightened up the walls of Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Emergency Department thanks to a local artist.

Textile artist Jayne Huskisson has kindly donated her images to be used as part of an art project to help create a more welcoming environment for patients and visitors.

Jayne’s silk paintings capture the beautiful surrounding landscape of Anglesey and North Wales with a colourful and contemporary twist.

She said: “I wanted to give something back to the hospital. I visited many departments over the past 15 years with my father and the care he received was outstanding.  I hope my artwork will bring some comfort to patients and their families.  I was thrilled to see my work reproduced at such a large scale and am delighted with the finished result.”

Funding for the art project has been made possible by the generous donation of £12,756.00 by Royal Air Force Valley. The donation, given to the North Wales NHS Charity, Awyr Las, has also supported recliner chairs for our patients living with dementia.

Charge Nurse, Andrew Parry, said: “We would like to thank Jayne for allowing us to use her images to help brighten up our waiting areas and clinical rooms of our new department.”

The Emergency Department would like to use digital images of local artists’ work inspired by locations across the region.
