New Independent Member for Finance appointed

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Sir Paul Lambert as Independent Member for Finance, starting on 13 October 2025.

 

Sir Paul Lambert retired in 2022 having been for over nine years the Secretary General (CEO) of St John International, the supporting body for all St John (St John Ambulance) establishments in over 40 countries around the world, with over 160,000 volunteers providing services from First Aid to Maternal Health.

 

Prior to this Paul had retired from the Royal Navy as the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Capability) having spent 38 years in the Service. In charge of the Defence Equipment Programme, he was responsible to ministers for equipping the entire Armed Forces.

 

During his time in the Navy, Paul was the Controller of the Navy; was in charge of the UK Submarine Service; ran all Navy Operations worldwide; and Commanded both Submarines and Surface Ships.

 

For the last ten years Paul has lived in Gwynedd and for most of that time been an Independent Member of Prifysgol Bangor (University). He is married to Enid, who is a retired Paramedic and is currently studying for a Nursing Degree
