Help Us Develop a North Wales Recovery College

We are looking to set up a North Wales Recovery College. This page provides information on what Recovery Colleges are, how they can benefit your local community and how you can get involved.

What is a Recovery College?

A Recovery College is a space where anyone can come and learn about mental health recovery and wellbeing. Whatever the mental health challenges may be, we want to provide a safe space where service users, carers, professionals and members of the community can come together to share experiences.

Recovery Colleges offer a range of courses on mental health, physical health and wellbeing topics. They provide learning, connection and support for people who are currently or have previously experienced mental health challenges, parents, carers, friends and loved ones, professionals and anyone else who might be interested.

These courses are co-designed and led by individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges, fostering hope, empowerment, and meaningful connections.

Recovery Colleges are usually based in local communities and online.

Developing a North Wales Recovery College

As part of a national programme of work led by Health Education and Improvement Wales, we have received funding to coproduce a business case to develop a Recovery College in North Wales.

During May 2025, we hosted a survey and engagement sessions for members of the public to have their say on the development of the North Wales Recovery College. The insights we gathered are being used to support our business case and development plans.

We expect a further update to be released in Summer 2025, detailing the next steps of the North Wales Recovery College.
