The following notice applies to all parties, legal representatives, and public bodies wishing to serve legal documents on Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board ("the Health Board"). 

This is the Health Board's formal address for service of documents under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), including claim forms, court orders, applications, pre-action correspondence, and all litigation-related material.

Service by email

Our preferred method of service is email, as set out below.

The Health Board accepts electronic service of legal proceedings only to the following email address: 

BCU.legalservices@wales.nhs.uk

  • Documents must be sent in standard email format
  • Documents sent via secure portals or systems requiring account creation do not constitute valid service
  • Password-protected documents are deemed served only when the password is provided and the documents can be accessed.
     

Deemed time of receipt 

  • Documents received 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday (business days) are treated as received the same business day
  • Documents received outside these hours are treated as received as the next business day.
     

Important: Not an address for other providers 

This notice applies only to Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board

It is not an address for service for: 

  • Independent GP practices
  • Independent dental practices
  • Independent pharmacies
  • Independent optometry providers
  • Any other independent healthcare contractors
  • Any other NHS Wales organisations, Health Boards, or NHS Trusts

Parties must ensure that documents are served on the correct defendant or organisation.
