The building blocks of health and wellbeing shape our lives long before we enter a clinic or a hospital
In North Wales, we are fortunate to have strong communities, rich natural environments, and a shared ambition to improve health for all.
But we also face persistent inequalities. Not everyone has the same access to the building blocks of health – building blocks like the homes we live in, the jobs we do, the communities we belong to, and the opportunities we have to thrive. For some, the foundations are fragile or missing altogether.
This year’s report from the Director of Public Health sets out how we can change that — by working together across sectors, and listening to communities. Rather than focusing on deficits, we want to strengthen these building blocks within everything we do.
Health is not constructed in isolation. This report is a call to action — for public services, communities, and individuals — to build health together, block-by-block, for a fairer and healthier future.
