New blood test unit reduces waiting times from weeks to days.

The opening of a new Phlebotomy Unit in Wrexham meant patients had their wait for a blood test appointment reduced from six weeks to three days.

The unit, called Ty Madoc, opened at Wrexham Maelor Hospital with six new chairs for patients to have their bloods taken, and also offers evening appointments.

Due to the pandemic, blood test waiting times increased to an average of six weeks as less locations offered blood test appointments. Ty Madoc opened to help meet the demand and growing needs of patients in the area, and since it opened 15,000 blood tests are done every month in Wrexham alone, helping reduce the waiting times for patients
