Negative thoughts

As well as having to cope with physical sensations people will experience distressing and negative thoughts which in themselves can create more fear and anxiety. These thoughts can be about current problems that you may have but you may dwell on them and struggle to find a way to address these problems. They can also be in the form of 'what if’s' - worrying over what might happen and imagining fearful and difficult situations ahead. We can often get caught up in worrying over whether we will become anxious again and fear becoming unwell and not coping.

There are several different negative thinking patterns that can be looked up on the Get Self Help website.

How to challenge negative thoughts
It is always advisable to write down the thoughts you wish to change in the form of thought record sheets or dairies. This could include the situations and possible triggers.

Within these web pages we have provided information on where to look up different thinking distortions such as 'predicting the future/ fortune telling'. Being able to identify what thinking distortion you are using is helpful in challenging your negative thoughts.
