Celebration marks completion of Llynfor Ward Day Room upgrade at Ysbyty Bryn Beryl

30.01.2026

Ysbyty Bryn Beryl and the hospital’s League of Friends have celebrated the completion of the newly refurbished Llynfor Ward Day Room with a special afternoon tea event held on Friday 30 January 2026.

The improvement works were made possible thanks to a generous donation of over £8,700 from the Ysbyty Bryn Beryl League of Friends. This funding has supported a range of much‑needed enhancements, including new flooring, tables, chairs, cupboards and blinds.

The upgraded day room is a vital resource for Llynfor Ward, providing an essential space that enhances the level of care and support available to patients. The room is used for a variety of purposes, including active sessions and exercise, wellbeing activities, and social engagement. The improvements will enable staff to expand the range of activities offered, improving patient experience, comfort and enjoyment.

Speaking about the refurbishment, Rhona Jones, Locality Matron at Bryn Beryl, said: “The room has been vastly improved for the benefit of the patients and their visiting families. This space is used and cherished by all; our therapists, patients, their families and friends alike. It gives them the opportunity to partake in activities together, to have lunch together, or even just to have a cup of tea away from a clinical bedside environment.”

Ffiona Adams, a Dementia Support Worker who works closely with the patients at Bryn Beryl, added: “These upgrades would not have been possible without the generosity of the League of Friends. The room is so vital to the stimulation and rehabilitation of our patients, and the improvements will make a significant difference to their wellbeing. We are all so pleased with the improvements.”

The Ysbyty Bryn Beryl League of Friends continues to play an important role in supporting the hospital and improving facilities for patients, families and staff.
