The Health Board, at its meeting in May, considered the Royal College of Psychiatrists Invited Review Service Report, an external assessment of progress made in implementing historic reviews. It showed where the Health Board has made good progress and where there is more to do.
As a board we reiterated our apology to those people who were let down. Sadly, we cannot change what has happened in the past but we will use their experience to drive forward actions that lead to improvements for patients, carers, families and staff.
Since receiving the report we have worked with our staff and drawn on the experience of patients, families and carers to develop our response. This will be discussed at the Board on 25th July and sets out the way we will work to make these improvements, involving staff, patients, families and wider stakeholders. The report also highlights some of the progress that is already being made, in relation to dementia care, electronic health records and real efforts in strengthening leadership, culture and the way we engage with people and communities.
By working together, we will make the improvements our services need and establish a collaborative way of working for the future with a shared ambition of delivering high quality services for the people of North Wales.
