Breast clinic changes at Llandudno Hospital

Works have now commenced to build a new Surgical Hub at Llandudno General Hospital, which means we are having to make temporary changes to how some of our services will be delivered.

The Rapid Access Breast Clinics delivered on a Monday and Tuesday from Llandudno General Hospital will be transferring on a temporary basis to Ysbyty Gwynedd from 15 April, 2024. These clinics will be transferred back to Llandudno once the work on the new Surgical Hub is complete later this year.

The Breast Clinics held every Wednesday at Llandudno General Hospital will remain in place, however there will be some changes for our patients who require a diagnostic test.

If your Doctor requests a mammogram or ultrasound scan during your Breast Clinic appointment you will receive an appointment to receive your diagnostic test at Ysbyty Gwynedd. Due to demand, if you need a mammogram and an ultrasound it may not be possible for both to be carried out on the same day. If we are unable to do this for you, we will ensure a separate appointment is made for you as soon as possible.

We understand this temporary change may be worrying for some our patients, and some of you may feel that Glan Clwyd Hospital or Breast Test Wales may be closer for you, but it is important that if you require a diagnostic test that you attend Ysbyty Gwynedd so that we can provide you with continuity of care.

We apologise for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding during these temporary changes to our services.
