Patients and staff at Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Dialysis Unit were treated to a special visit recently when Caernarfon Town Football Club Chairman Paul Evans brought along the club’s Welsh cup trophy.
The club made history in April 2026 by winning the Welsh Cup for the first time, securing one of the most memorable achievements in the club’s history.
Paul, who was a dialysis patient at Ysbyty Gwynedd, wanted to share the club’s success with the staff who have supported him throughout his treatment journey.
During the visit, patients and staff had the opportunity to see the trophy up close, take photographs and celebrate the achievement. One of those patients was Ceri Williams, who is a patient on home haemodialysis supported by her mother, and also carer Joyce Holden-Carer who is a Caernarfon Football Club super fan and has followed them for many years. Ceri is also hoping to attend a game later this year.
Paul said: "Winning the Welsh Cup was an incredibly proud moment for everyone connected with Caernarfon Town Football Club, and I wanted to bring the trophy to the Dialysis Unit to share that success with the people who have supported me over the years.
"The staff there do an amazing job and have always looked after me with kindness, professionalism and compassion. I am extremely grateful for everything they do, not just for me but for all the patients they care for every day. It was a pleasure to bring the cup in and see the smiles it put on people's faces."
Sarah Hirst-Williams, Matron for the Dialysis Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd, said: "It was wonderful to welcome Paul back to the unit and we are very grateful that he took the time to bring the Welsh Cup trophy along for staff and patients to see. We are incredibly proud of Paul and the club's success.
"We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with the club in the future and appreciate their support for our patients and staff."
