Young people considering their career options, and people looking for a career change are invited to discover exciting opportunities in cancer are at North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre's upcoming open day.

On Sunday 27 September, the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre (NWCTC) at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan, will open its doors to the public between 10am and 3pm.

Th event is designed to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals and also support those who are looking for a change in careers available in cancer services. From cutting edge science and technology to hands-on patient care and essential support roles.

Guests will have the opportunity to:

Find out about study and training with representatives from Llandrillo College, Cardiff University, Bangor University, and Wrexham University on hand to discuss pathways into healthcare
Meet healthcare professionals working in cancer services, including radiographers, specialist nurses, oncologists, pharmacists, scientists and more
Discover the variety of career paths – from patient-facing roles to technical, scientific and administrative careers that support cancer treatment

Emma Tracey, Radiographer at NWCTC, said:
“We would like to reach Years 11, 12 and 13 in North Wales schools, as well as anyone considering a career change. Cancer Services is an ever-changing, dynamic work environment where teamwork and innovation are key. We hope this event will inspire people in our community to consider a future in healthcare – perhaps even becoming the next radiographers, oncologists or specialist nurses here at NWCTC.”

Careers on show include:

Administrative roles – keeping services running smoothly behind the scenes.
Specialist chemotherapy nurses – leading treatment programmes.
Therapeutic radiographers – combining science, technology and care to deliver targeted treatment.
Medical physics clinical scientists and technologists – ensuring safe and accurate use of radiotherapy and radioactive treatments.
Oncologists – diagnosing and treating cancer.
Cancer pharmacy staff – preparing life-saving medicines.
Allied Health Professionals – including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and speech and language therapists who support patients through treatment and recovery.
