Updates on our vaccination plans and progress in North Wales

    June 15, 2026

People aged 75 and over are being urged to reduce their risk of serious illness and hospital admission by dropping in for COVID-19 and RSV vaccines this June

Eligible patients who have not received either vaccine can visit one of our community vaccination centres to top up their protection against the viruses without an appointment from Monday June 15. Walk-in clinics will be held in 29 locations across North Wales until Tuesday June 30.

Details of the locations offering drop-in Spring COVID-19 and RSV vaccinations, and the dates and times of our clinics, are available here.

All eligible patients should now have received an appointment letter. We encourage anyone who had missed their appointment, or who has misplaced or did not receive an appointment through the post to come forward before the end of the month. This includes everyone in North Wales who will celebrate their 75th birthday on or before June 30.

Younger adults who have a weaker immune system as a result of a health condition or medical treatment can also walk in for a COVID-19 vaccine. More information about qualifying conditions and treatments is available here

    More information about the vaccines

All over 75s are now eligible for the RSV vaccine, which can reduce the risk of being hospitalised with Respiratory syncytial virus by up to 75%. This single vaccine is only given once, and does not need to be repeated each year. More information is available here.

Immunity against COVID-19 wanes over time, and research shows that having the Spring vaccine is an important way for the most vulnerable people in our communities to top up their protection against the virus. More information about the COVID-19 vaccine is available here.

If you have an appointment before the end of June

We encourage people who have received an invitation through the post to attend their appointment at the date and time on their letter where possible.

Please check your letter carefully because the venue for your appointment may be different from previous vaccination programmes. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please reschedule by calling our contact centre on 03000 840004 or emailing BCU.SROCovid19VaccinationProgramme@wales.nhs.uk.

    About RSV and COVID-19

RSV is a common virus that can lead to serious health problems – such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia – in older people and babies. It leads to between 700 and 1,000 hospital admissions among over-75s in Wales every year. Up to 9,000 GP appointments are caused by RSV annually.

The RSV vaccine was introduced for people aged between 75 and 80 in September 2024, but has been extended to older people with no upper age limit from April 2026.

Vaccination against RSV is also offered to all pregnant women to help protect newborn babies from the virus.

COVID-19 continues to circulate in Wales, and is more likely to cause serious illness for older people and people with a weaker immune system.

We urge everyone eligible for the vaccines to take up the offer to boost their protection against RSV and COVID-19.
