Older Person’s Mental Health Services are provided in the community by community mental health teams and organised in line with the Local Authorities. They provide primary and secondary care services, as well as memory services.
In the West, there is a unit at Cefni Hospital in Llangefni for patients with primarily cognitive disorders. Inpatient beds for the Central area are located at Bryn Hesketh in Colwyn Bay for primarily cognitive disorders and at Tegid ward at Bodelwyddan for older people with functional mental disorders. Patients from Wrexham and Flintshire are admitted to wards for elderly mentally ill inpatients located at Heddfan Psychiatric Unit, Wrexham. One ward is for primarily cognitive disorders and the other for older people with functional mental disorders.
