Neonatal Service

This webpage is under development

We are committed to working together with the Wales Neonatal Network and neonatal units across Wales to ensure your experience as parents in any of our units is positive and empowering.

Each neonatal/special care baby in North Wales has provision in place to protect the security of the babies, this includes access to the unit being via intercom.

To reduce the risk of cross-infection we kindly ask that you and your visitors wash your hands and then use the alcohol gel before entering the clinical areas. You will be shown where to do this on each of the units. Please leave your coats on the hangers/in the lockers provided.  Please do not visit if you have cold symptoms or if you have experienced diarrhoea & vomiting in the last 48 hours.

You are welcome to take photos of you own baby, but please respect the confidentiality of other babies and do not take photos of them.  Please do not take pictures of staff without their consent.

Sub-regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre (SuRNICC)

The Sub-regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre (SuRNICC) is the largest neonatal unit in North Wales and supports two Special Care Baby Units in Wrexham and Bangor.  We aim to deliver the highest quality care for our very special patients and their families.  We work closely with the neighbouring Neonatal Networks in North West England and are committed to the ongoing development of the service, including the teaching and training of our staff.
