Updates: Gas leak near Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan

This webpage will be updated with the latest information and guidance from the Health Board, on the gas leak near Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan:

3:50pm

Update from North Wales Police: 

As a result of damage to the gas main opposite Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan, Rhuddlan Road was closed and properties evacuated as a precautionary measure. 

The damage has now been isolated, and the road has reopened. Residents have been allowed back to their properties. All multi agency partners involved would like to thank the public for their patience whilst this incident was brought to a safe conclusion.


12:30pm

While patient services are continuing as normal, please be aware of changes to access to Glan Clwyd Hospital due to the ongoing incident. There will no access to the hospital from the A55 past Marble Church along Rhuddlan Road, apart from for emergency vehicles.

All other hospital traffic must approach from the A525 dual carriageway and along Sarn Lane.

Please give yourself enough time to travel as there could be delays due to the road closure.

11.55am

Wales and West Utilities are assessing the leak and the best way to contain it, and we are taking advice from them. This is a reminder that patient services are continuing as normal for the time being.


10.49am

An incident adjacent to Glan Clwyd Hospital has resulted in a gas leak. While there is a smell of gas around the site, our supply has not been affected.

There is no cause for alarm and patient services will continue as normal for the time being. Specialist engineers are at the scene of the gas leak and attempting a repair.

While there is currently no risk to staff or patients, be assured we are continuously monitoring the situation and we will provide the next update soon.
