Understanding your views on and experience of planned orthopaedic surgery (hip and knee replacement)

We are keen to understand the views of people receiving care in North Wales, specifically on planned orthopaedic surgery, also known as elective care.

When we talk about orthopaedic surgery, we are most often referring to hip and knee replacement.

We are keen to hear the views of people with experience of being diagnosed, waiting for care and/or having had joint replacement surgery within the last 18 months in North Wales, and we will be running a short series of small discussion groups early in the New Year to explore experiences.

We are looking for people to volunteer to participate in the small group discussions (up to 10 people) to share thoughts and ideas; and provide insight to help us design our services now and for the future

The discussion groups will last no more than 90 minutes and will be run either online or face to face, participants will be reimbursed for their time and expenses.

We are looking to hear from people now and will be running the groups in January 2024. We are working with ASV Research Ltd (ASV) who will be undertaking the recruitment of volunteers and running the focus groups on behalf of the Health Board.

If you would like to take part in the discussion groups, please email:
groups@asv-online.co.uk

Please include in your message:

  • Your name;
  • Contact details (email and phone number);
  • The county you live in; and
  • Where you had your surgery (if you are not still waiting.)

Please note that volunteering to take part does not guarantee you will be invited to join the discussions. We will acknowledge all correspondence and let you know if you are to be invited to take part or not.
