We have made a formal organisational commitment to becoming a Fostering in Wales Partner and a Foster Friendly Employer.
This commitment recognises and strengthens the support available to employees who are foster carers with their local authority. It also contributes to wider efforts to increase the number of foster carers across North Wales, helping ensure that vulnerable children and young people can remain within their local communities.
As a Foster Friendly Employer, we will actively create the conditions that allow staff to step forward as foster carers, supported by flexible policies and a culture that values their contribution.
Our Board members formally pledged their support at a recent meeting, where they heard from Maethu Cymru/Foster Wales and a member of staff who has been supported through the fostering process.
Dyfed Edwards, Chair, said: “As one of the largest employers in North Wales, we have an important role to play in supporting our communities.
“Becoming a Foster Friendly Employer is a clear demonstration of our commitment to children and young people who need safe, stable homes, while also supporting our staff to make a real difference through fostering.
“By working with Maethu Cymru/Foster Wales, we are helping to remove barriers and create an environment where fostering can be a realistic and supported option for our workforce.”
