I CAN Volunteering

Latest volunteering opportunities

Could you spare a few hours to support vulnerable people in your local community or give something back to our NHS heroes? We have a range of volunteering opportunities through our I CAN campaign and we would love to hear from anyone who is a good listener and is passionate about helping others.

Supporting vulnerable people in your local community

We’re looking for I CAN volunteers to provide emotional support for people across North Wales who are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing. This support can be delivered over the telephone from the comfort of your home.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, I CAN has received over 800 referrals and our volunteers and partner agencies have  provided more than 3000 regular telephone calls to people struggling with their mental health across the region, complementing the work of our mental health teams, who have continued to operate throughout the pandemic.

Before COVID-19 began circulating in our communities, I CAN volunteers provided support to people in North Wales hospitals, GP surgeries and I CAN Community Hubs. We hope to reintroduce this face-to-face support as soon as it is safe to do so.

Volunteer to support our NHS heroes

We’re currently looking for volunteers to provide support at our Staff Wellness Resource Centre, which has recently been established on the grounds of Bryn y Neuadd Hospital in Llanfairfechan. Volunteers will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the wellness centre and its therapeutic activities, providing a listening ear to staff who may be feeling distressed or overwhelmed, and signposting to further support which is available from our staff psychology, counselling and to other specialist services.
