Ysbyty Gwynedd surgical ward staff thank community for fundraising support

Over £1,500 has been raised through fundraising efforts to purchase equipment for a surgical ward at Ysbyty Gwynedd.

The team from Tegid Ward recently held a fundraising bingo night at the Crosville Social Club in Bangor which received huge support from local businesses.

Fifty prizes were donated towards raising funds to purchase the wards own Electrocardiogram test (ECG) machine.

An ECG is a simple and useful test which records the rhythm, rate and electrical activity of the heart. It can help to detect problems with the heart rate of heart rhythm.

Tegid Ward Manager, Victoria Seddon, said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone who came out to support our bingo night in Bangor.

“Local businesses have been extremely generous and donated amazing prizes to help us raise money.

“The Crossville Social Club offered for us to hold the event there and we are so grateful for all the members for their help and support.

“These type of events have brought our team on Tegid closer together and helped to boost morale.

“We are really pleased with the amount that was raised and would like to thank everyone who has supported us.

“Even though we always have access to an ECG machine it will be a lot better for us and our patients to have one easily accessible on our own ward.”

The team on Tegid has also seen recently seen the arrival of their new bladder scanner following the fundraising efforts of Nurse Leanne Baxter and Assistant Practitioner Chris Hoult who raised over £4000 to purchase the equipment by taking on the 10-mile Snowdon Race.
