Health Liaison Support Workers

Health Liaison Support Workers

The Health Liaison Team’s support workers assist people with learning disabilities in the BCUHB area to access both primary and secondary care. They provide specialist support and education for patients and health professionals to help access health appointments and services.

They also deliver a blood desensitisation programme for people who are highly anxious around getting blood tests. The programme has a high success rate and is a model that has been adopted by several other services across the UK.

The Health Liaison support workers develop easy read information for people who may have difficulty understanding certain treatments or their diagnosis. This helps them to make an informed choice over the treatment plan and ensure that they have as much control over their treatment and care as possible.

To access these services please contact the relevant Primary Liaison or Acute Liaison Nurse.
