COVID-19 Vaccination Scams

The COVID-19 vaccine is only available on the NHS and is free of charge. The NHS will never ask you for bank account details, passwords or PIN numbers in order to book or receive a vaccine. You do not need to apply for a vaccine as you will be contacted by the NHS when it is your turn.

If you receive an email, text message or phone call purporting to be from the NHS and you are asked to provide financial details, this is a scam. Typically, scams will include correspondence with links to unofficial websites, or featuring poor grammar, which invite you to provide personal or financial details.

If you think you’ve been targeted by a scam you should tell somebody you trust and report it to Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040 or by visiting their website at https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/.

A genuine COVID-19 vaccination invitation may come from your GP practice, or it may come directly from the Health Board to invite you to a Mass Vaccination Centre. It is most likely that you will be invited by letter or by phone, with the offer of an appointment.

Written correspondence will typically carry the NHS Betsi Cadwaladr University letter head, or that of your GP practice. Please remember, we will never ask you for bank account details, passwords or PIN numbers. If you have any doubts about a vaccination appointment you have received, please contact our COVID-19 Vaccination Contact Centre on 03000 840004.
