Flu vaccine for children

Children aged two or three (on August 31 2022) will be offered a painless nasal spray flu vaccine at their GP surgery.

GP surgeries usually invite parents of two and three year olds to book an appointment for their child to receive their flu vaccine. Your child may be invited by letter, text message, phone call, or in person while at your surgery for another appointment.

If you did not attend or missed your appointment, you can still arrange a free flu vaccine for your child by contacting your GP surgery or attending a walk-in session at one of our vaccination centres.

Children aged six months to two years with a chronic health condition will also be offered a free flu vaccine at their GP surgery. When you receive an invitation for your child to get their vaccine, please take it up.

If you did not attend or missed your appointment, you can still arrange a free flu vaccine for your child by contacting your GP surgery.

Children aged six months to two years with a chronic health condition cannot receive their flu vaccine at a mass vaccination centre.

All school children (aged 2 to school year 11) will be offered a painless nasal spray flu vaccine at school during the autumn term.

If your child did not attend or missed the school clinic, it is not too late to arrange their flu vaccine. Please contact their school nurse or GP surgery to arrange for them to receive a flu vaccine, or attend a walk-in session at one of our vaccination centres.
